Christian Postnatal Perinatal Depression
Depression that begins during pregnancy (peri-natal), or any time in the 12 months following the birth of a child (postnatal),
is collectively referred to as peripartum depression. It can affect many women, and may only be recognised in the
post-natal period. Instead of the hoped experience of joy, women may struggle with fear and anxiety, panic attacks,
troublesome thoughts, guilt and depression.
In addition, many mothers are relieved to receive support in the process of reconciling and recovering from unexpected and/or
servere stress endured before, during, and after the birthing experience. Some women may need support in facing challenges including
a traumatic delivery, and post-birth issues such as sleepless nights, anxiety, adjustment and relationship problems.
Our psychologists are able to provide the necessary care and treatment for peri-natal and postnatal depression and related concerns.
